What is Splashtop?
Splashtop Remote Support is the help desk product from Splashtop Inc., and SOS is its tier for on-demand, attended support. The customer downloads the Splashtop SOS app on a computer, iPhone, iPad or Android device, and the app shows a 9-digit code the customer reads to the technician. The technician then connects and, on Windows, Mac and Linux computers, takes full control. Each SOS license is per concurrent technician: up to 10 users can share one license, with one active at a time, and each license includes unattended access to either 10 or 300 managed computers. Splashtop adds admin elevation, reboot and reconnect, background system tools and integrations with ITSM and PSA systems, plus add-ons for patching, endpoint management, antivirus and EDR. Splashtop Remote Support is built for IT teams and managed service providers that want affordable, full-control support for the computers they look after. Splashtop's former SOS pricing page now redirects to the Remote Support product page.
Can Splashtop see or control an iPhone?
Splashtop can view an iPhone or iPad but not control it. The customer installs Splashtop SOS from the App Store (iOS 15 or newer) and shares through Apple's screen broadcast. Splashtop's help center puts it plainly: 'Due to Apple's high security restrictions, you will not be able to remotely control your IOS devices.'
Splashtop documents that Apple's screen recording ends if an incoming phone call arrives, but works when sharing is started after a call is already connected. Splashtop attributes this to iOS rather than its own app. Either way, connect the call first and then start sharing, which is already the normal order for a GuidedView session.
On Android, Splashtop goes further than GuidedView. Control works on many devices through a Splashtop add-on app, or by enabling the accessibility service on Android 8.0 and above. Without that setup, Splashtop SOS can view Android 5.0 and above. Unattended Android access is an Enterprise feature.
Which is easier for a customer who is already on the phone?
Splashtop includes in-session chat and an in-session voice call, and it can also run alongside a normal phone call. The customer's first step is to download and open the SOS app, then read the 9-digit code to the technician.
GuidedView starts from the other direction. You send the invitation by text or email from the portal, so there is no code to read out. The customer opens it on the device they want to share, confirms they are on a call with you, and approves sharing; on a computer the browser handles it with no download. The customer can pause before a password or payment screen, and only they can resume. Each link works once. See how to share an iPhone screen with support.
How does Splashtop pricing compare?
| Plan | Price | Includes |
|---|---|---|
| Splashtop Remote Support SOS, option 1 | $259 per year per concurrent technician | 10 managed computers; attended iPhone and Android support; chat, voice call and session recording |
| Splashtop Remote Support SOS, option 2 | $399 per year per concurrent technician | 300 managed computers; the same attended features |
| Splashtop Remote Support Enterprise | Quote only | Adds cloud session recording and unattended Android access |
| GuidedView | $29.99 per month, billed monthly | One plan per account; iPhone, Android and computer viewing |
Splashtop's SOS tier starts at $22 a month per concurrent technician, and because up to 10 users can share one license (one active at a time), a small team taking turns can pay less per person than with GuidedView. Splashtop says all its subscriptions are billed yearly.
GuidedView is $29.99 per account per month, billed monthly, with no annual commitment. Over a year, that is $359.88 for one GuidedView account against $259 or $399 for one Splashtop SOS license. Splashtop includes full control and managed computers in that price, so it is the better value if you need them. See GuidedView pricing.
Which should you choose?
Choose Splashtop if
- You run a help desk or MSP that controls Windows, Mac or Linux computers
- You want unattended access to 10 or 300 managed computers included
- Several technicians can take turns on one concurrent license
- You need Android control, session recording or ITSM and PSA integrations
- You want add-ons for patching, endpoint management, antivirus or EDR
Choose GuidedView if
- Your support happens on phone calls with customers rather than on managed machines
- You want customers to start from a text or email link instead of reading out a code
- You want computer customers to share from the browser with no download
- You want customers able to pause for private steps
- You prefer monthly billing and view-only sessions with no recording
Splashtop is a strong, affordable choice for IT support. GuidedView is narrower on purpose: it is for seeing a screen during a support call, with privacy controls built for that moment.
Can you use Splashtop and GuidedView together?
Yes. An MSP or help desk can keep Splashtop for the computers it manages and controls, and use GuidedView when an end user calls with a phone problem that only needs a view of the screen. GuidedView needs no SDK or IT deployment, so adding it does not change your Splashtop setup. Read GuidedView for managed service providers or create an account.
Questions
Can Splashtop control an iPhone?
No. Splashtop states that Apple's security restrictions prevent remote control of iOS devices. The customer can share an iPhone or iPad screen through the Splashtop SOS app, which needs iOS 15 or newer, and the technician can watch. GuidedView is view-only on iPhone as well.
Why does iPhone screen sharing stop when a call comes in?
Splashtop's documentation notes that Apple's screen recording ends if an incoming call arrives, but works when sharing is started during a call that is already connected. This is iOS behavior, so it affects any app that uses Apple's screen broadcast. Connect the call first, then start sharing.
What happened to Splashtop SOS pricing?
As of November 2026, Splashtop's SOS pricing page redirects to its Remote Support product page, where SOS is listed as a tier starting at $22 per month per concurrent technician, billed annually at $259 or $399 depending on how many managed computers you need.
Does the customer need a Splashtop account?
No. In Splashtop's documented flow, the customer opens the SOS app and reads a 9-digit code to the technician, with no sign-in. GuidedView customers also need no account; they open a one-time link you send by text or email.
Does Splashtop record sessions?
Yes. Local session recording is included in SOS and can be started from the toolbar or enabled automatically by an admin. Cloud recording of all sessions, with 90-day retention, is an Enterprise feature and is off by default. GuidedView sessions are live only and never recorded.
