Screen sharing for auto dealerships, from credit app to digital key

By the GuidedView teamUpdated

Short answer

GuidedView lets dealership BDC, sales, F&I and service staff see a customer's phone or computer screen during a phone call. Staff text a one-time link, the buyer approves sharing, and staff watch the online credit application, document uploads, e-signing or owner app setup live. Buyers pause before entering a Social Security number or signing. GuidedView is view-only, is not affiliated with any automaker, and costs $29.99 a month per account.

Where do car buyers get stuck when the deal moves online?

A car deal now includes several steps the buyer completes alone on a phone: the online credit application on the dealer's website, photos of a driver's license and proof of insurance, lender stipulations such as proof of income or residence, and an e-signing packet that can run many pages. After delivery come the owner app, connected services, digital key setup and the service scheduling app. When a buyer gets stuck on any of these, the call to the dealership usually starts with "it won't let me continue," and the salesperson or F&I manager has to guess which field, upload or page is the problem. GuidedView lets dealership staff see the buyer's actual screen during that phone call. The buyer approves sharing, the staff member watches in a browser on a desk computer or on a phone out on the lot, and the buyer does every tap.

How should F&I staff guide the credit application and e-signing?

  1. Get on the phone first

Call the buyer or take their call, then say you are texting a link so you can see their screen. The invitation asks them to share only if they are on a call with the sender right now.

  2. Open the application together

Once sharing starts, the buyer opens the credit application link. You can confirm they are on your dealership's page before they type anything.

  3. Pause for the sensitive fields

Ask the buyer to tap Pause before entering a Social Security number, date of birth or bank details, then resume when those fields are done. While paused, you cannot see the screen.

  4. Check uploads before they submit

Look at the photo of the license or pay stub before it is uploaded. Cut-off corners and glare are easier to fix now than after a lender sends it back.

  5. Walk the signing packet

In the e-signing session, name each page and field that needs a signature or initials as the buyer reaches it. The buyer can pause while signing if they prefer, then resume so you can confirm the packet is complete.

Your obligations stay yours

GuidedView does not replace your dealership's own obligations for customer financial information, lender requirements, e-signature consent and disclosures, or state rules. It does not verify identity and does not store documents. Confirm your policies with your compliance team before using any screen sharing tool in F&I.

Can staff help buyers set up connected-car apps and digital keys?

Yes, for the parts that happen on the phone. Owner app setup usually involves several of these steps, all of which appear on the buyer's screen:

  • Creating an account and verifying an email address
  • Adding the vehicle, often by entering or scanning the VIN
  • Accepting connected services terms
  • Allowing location, Bluetooth and notification permissions
  • Pairing the phone for a digital key or phone-as-key feature

Two honest limits. GuidedView shows the phone or computer screen, not the vehicle's touchscreen, so steps that happen inside the car still need to be described verbally. And GuidedView is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or integrated with any automaker; it simply shows whatever app is on the buyer's screen.

How does the service department use it?

Service advisors take calls from customers who cannot finish booking in the app, cannot find their vehicle on their account, or are unsure what a texted estimate is asking them to approve. With the customer's screen in view, the advisor confirms the vehicle, the service and the time before the customer taps submit, and walks them to the right screen when additional work needs approval.

If the customer pays from the same screen, have them pause before entering card details, then resume to confirm the payment went through.

Which buyer details should stay private?

  • Credit application fields: Social Security number, date of birth, income and employer details.
  • Banking: account and routing numbers for a down payment or automatic loan payments.
  • Photo capture: the camera screen while photographing a license or insurance card, if the buyer prefers.
  • Logins: passwords and verification codes for the owner app, an insurance account or a lender portal.
  • Signatures: the moment of signing, if the buyer would rather not be watched.

Remind buyers that only the staff member who sent the invitation can view the session and that GuidedView does not record. The security page explains how sessions are protected.

Why use a text link instead of a video call?

Buyers are already on the phone with you, and many would rather not download a meeting app to finish a credit application. A GuidedView invitation arrives as a text, opens on their phone and leaves the voice call untouched. Staff can watch from a phone while walking the lot, and customers never create an account or pay.

Each GuidedView account is $29.99 a month, billed monthly with every feature included, so a dealership can start with its F&I office and add accounts as other departments ask. See how it works, read our guide to walking a customer through an e-signature, or sign up.

Questions

Does GuidedView connect to our DMS or CRM?

No. GuidedView runs in a browser tab next to your DMS and CRM and does not exchange data with them. Staff send invitations from the GuidedView portal and record deal notes in your own systems as usual.

Is GuidedView affiliated with car manufacturers?

No. GuidedView is an independent screen sharing app operated by SyncedUp Solutions LLC. Because the buyer shares their screen, staff can see any brand's owner app or any lender portal on it, but GuidedView has no partnership with, or special access to, any automaker's systems.

Is the session saved to the deal jacket?

No. Sessions are live only, and GuidedView does not record or store screen video. Keep whatever documentation your dealership and lenders require in your own systems, and do not treat a GuidedView session as a record of what the buyer saw or signed.

Can the buyer share a laptop instead of a phone?

Yes. On a computer, the invitation opens in a supported desktop browser with no download, and the browser asks which screen or window to share. Sharing only the browser window with the application keeps other open windows private.

Can F&I fill in the form for the buyer?

No. GuidedView is view-only. Staff see the screen and explain each step, and the buyer types and taps everything themselves. That also keeps the buyer in control of what goes on a credit application with their name on it.

Does it help with remote or at-home delivery?

It can cover the screen parts of a remote delivery: finishing the signing packet, setting up the owner app and adding a digital key while the buyer is on the phone with your product specialist. Steps on the car's own display still need to be described verbally.
