How to see someone's iPhone screen remotely

By the GuidedView teamUpdated

Short answer

You can see someone's iPhone screen remotely only when they choose to share it. The main options are Apple's screen sharing in FaceTime or, when both iPhones have iOS 26 or later, in the Phone app; a meeting app such as Zoom; a remote support app such as TeamViewer QuickSupport; or a phone-support link such as GuidedView. Each one asks the owner to approve on the iPhone. Viewing an iPhone screen secretly is spyware, not support.

Can you see someone's iPhone screen from another device?

Seeing someone's iPhone screen remotely is possible, but only with the iPhone owner's active participation. Every legitimate method, whether FaceTime screen sharing, screen sharing in the Phone app, a meeting app like Zoom, a support app like TeamViewer QuickSupport, or a phone-support link like GuidedView, has the owner start or approve the share on the iPhone itself, and apps that broadcast the screen trigger the iPhone's red screen recording indicator. The right method depends on two questions. First, are both people on Apple devices? If so, FaceTime, or the Phone app on iOS 26 or later, is free and built in. Second, is this a business helping a customer during a regular phone call? Then a link-based tool that lets the viewer watch from any phone, tablet or computer is usually simpler than asking the customer to install a meeting app and join a meeting.

If you want to see a screen secretly

There is no legitimate way to watch someone's iPhone screen without their knowledge. Apps sold for that purpose are stalkerware, which the FTC describes as software someone installs on your device without your knowledge. The New York Attorney General has said that installing and using stalkerware to monitor another adult's phone without consent violates numerous state laws. If you think someone is monitoring you, read the FTC's stalkerware guidance or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

How do you see an iPhone screen with FaceTime or the Phone app?

Apple's built-in screen sharing is the best free option when both people use Apple devices. Apple lists the minimum for FaceTime screen sharing as iOS 15.1 on iPhone, iPadOS 15.1 on iPad or macOS 12.1 on Mac. The Phone app can share screens during a normal call with one other person when both iPhones have iOS 26 or later.

  1. Start the call

Call on FaceTime, or place a regular call in the Phone app if you both have iOS 26 or later.

  2. Ask to see their screen

Tap the screen to show the controls, tap the share button, tap Screen Sharing, then tap Ask to Share Screen. The other person decides whether to share.

  3. Or have them share

The other person can tap Screen Sharing, then Share My Screen on their own iPhone. A countdown from 3 to 1 appears before sharing begins.

  4. Stop

The person sharing taps the share button, then Stop next to Screen Sharing. Ending the call also ends screen sharing.

The limits: both people need Apple devices, and Apple notes that FaceTime features may not be available in all countries or regions. For taking control of the screen, see can you remotely control an iPhone.

How do you see an iPhone screen in a meeting app like Zoom?

Meeting apps fit when the viewer is not on an Apple device or several people need to watch. In Zoom's iPhone app, it works like this:

  1. Join on the iPhone

The iPhone user opens the Zoom mobile app and joins the meeting from the link you sent.

  2. Start the broadcast

In the meeting controls they tap Share Content, then Screen, then Start Broadcast. Zoom suggests turning on Do Not Disturb first so notifications do not appear on the shared screen.

  3. Stop

They return to Zoom and tap Stop Share, or tap the red indicator in the top-left corner where the time is shown and tap Stop.

The tradeoff is setup: the iPhone user has to install the app and join a meeting in the middle of a support call, and the viewer still cannot control the iPhone. See GuidedView vs Zoom.

How do remote support apps handle iPhones?

Remote support tools built for computers usually offer a separate iPhone app that shares the screen through Apple's broadcast feature. TeamViewer's iPhone instructions, for example, have the user install the QuickSupport app, give their TeamViewer ID to the supporter, allow the connection and start broadcasting from Control Center. TeamViewer states that iOS does not allow the remote controlling of any iOS device, so the supporter watches and guides. These tools are the stronger choice when the same team also needs full control of Windows and Mac computers, unattended access or device management. How do you see a customer's iPhone screen with GuidedView?

GuidedView is built for a business that is already on a phone call with a customer. The agent watches live in a browser on a phone or computer while both people keep talking on the normal call.

  1. Send the invitation during the call

Sign in to the GuidedView portal and enter the customer's cell phone number or email address.

  2. The customer opens the link

On iPhone it opens the free GuidedView app, or the App Store if the app is not installed; after installing, the customer opens the original text or email again.

  3. The customer approves

They confirm they are on a call with you, choose Share, then approve Apple's broadcast prompt. Apple shows its red recording or broadcast indicator while sharing.

  4. Guide by voice

You see the screen and the customer does every tap. They can pause before passwords, codes or payment details, and only they can resume.

GuidedView is view-only, does not record sessions, and costs $29.99 per month for the agent's account; customers pay nothing and need no account. Read how it works or create an account.

Questions

Can I see someone's iPhone screen without them knowing?

No. Every legitimate way to share an iPhone screen has the owner start or approve the share, and apps that broadcast the screen trigger a red indicator at the top of the iPhone. Software that hides monitoring from the owner is stalkerware, and covertly monitoring another adult's phone can violate state laws.

Can I see an iPhone screen from an Android phone or a Windows PC?

Yes, with a cross-platform tool. In Zoom, the iPhone broadcasts into a meeting you join on your own device. With GuidedView, the iPhone owner shares through the free app while you watch in any modern browser on a phone or computer. FaceTime and Phone app sharing need Apple devices.

Is FaceTime screen sharing free?

Yes. Screen sharing is built into FaceTime and, when both iPhones have iOS 26 or later, into the Phone app, so there is nothing to buy. Both people need Apple devices that meet Apple's minimum system requirements for screen sharing.

Can the person watching my iPhone screen see my passwords?

They can see whatever appears on your screen while you share, so pause or stop before typing passwords, verification codes or card numbers. In GuidedView, you can tap Pause and the agent sees nothing until you resume. With other tools, stop the broadcast before private steps and start again afterward.

What does the red indicator at the top of my iPhone mean?

It means your screen is being recorded or broadcast. On iPhones with a Dynamic Island it appears as a red circle; on other models the time in the top-left corner turns red. Tap it to stop. If you did not start a share, stop it and check which apps you have approved.
