Best screen sharing apps for customer support (2026)

By the GuidedView teamUpdated

Short answer

The best screen sharing app for customer support depends on how customers reach you. For phone support, GuidedView shows a customer's iPhone, Android or computer screen during the call from a one-time text link. For scheduled sessions, Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams work if customers will join a meeting. For full computer control, use a remote support suite such as Splashtop or Zoho Assist. To guide customers inside your own website or app, use co-browsing.

What kind of screen sharing does your support team need?

Disclosure

GuidedView is our product. We include it where it fits and say plainly where another tool is the better choice. Competitor details were checked against each vendor's own pages in November 2026.

Customer support teams use five different kinds of screen sharing, and picking the wrong kind causes more friction than picking the wrong vendor. Phone-call screen sharing, such as GuidedView, adds a live view of the customer's phone or computer screen to a call that is already happening. Meeting apps, such as Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams, put the customer in a video meeting where they share from the meeting app. Remote support suites, such as Splashtop and Zoho Assist, let a technician view and control computers and many Android phones. Co-browsing platforms, such as UserView by Upscope and Glance, show an agent the customer's session inside the business's own website or app once code is installed. Camera-based tools, such as Viewabo and TechSee, show the customer's phone camera instead of the screen, which suits physical equipment. Each kind answers a different support question.

How we evaluated the options

  • Steps before the agent sees anything: an app install, an account, a meeting ID, or nothing.
  • Fit with the phone call: keeps the call you are on, or moves the customer elsewhere.
  • What the agent can see: the whole screen, one website or app, or a camera feed.
  • Control, pause and recording: whether the agent can take over, whether the customer can hide private steps, and whether sessions are recorded.
  • Price model: published or quote only, billing period and unit.

Phone-call screen sharing: GuidedView

GuidedView: best for helping someone during a phone call. During the call, you send a one-time link by text or email. The customer opens it on the device they want to share (the free GuidedView app on iPhone, iPad or Android, or a desktop browser with no download), confirms they are on a call with you and approves sharing. You watch live in a browser and keep talking on the same line. Because the customer shares their screen, not your website, you can see any app or site.

Watch-outs: GuidedView is view-only, does not record, has no voice or video of its own and works in the United States. It costs $29.99 a month per account, billed monthly. Customers can pause before private steps. See how it works.

Meeting apps: Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams

Meeting apps suit scheduled sessions, but a call on a regular phone line has to move into a meeting before the customer can share.

  • Zoom: best for scheduled video sessions and demos. The customer installs Zoom Workplace and joins by link or meeting ID to share a phone. Hosts can record, and remote control works only on Windows and Mac computers. Free Basic meetings stop at 40 minutes; Pro is $14.16 per user per month billed annually ($16.99 monthly).
  • Google Meet: best for teams on Google Workspace. Phone sharing needs the Meet app, and guests without a Google account must be admitted. Business Starter is $7 per user per month on an annual plan, but recording starts on Business Standard.
  • Microsoft Teams: best for teams on Microsoft 365. Guests need no account but install the Teams app and may wait in a lobby, and Microsoft notes a phone share shows the entire screen, including notifications. Teams Essentials is $4 per user per month, paid yearly.

None of the three documents a pause for phone sharing or can control a customer's phone. Compare GuidedView and Zoom.

Remote support suites: Splashtop and Zoho Assist

Remote support suites are built for technicians who fix computers: full keyboard and mouse control, unattended access and session recording. They can also view an iPhone and control many Android phones once the customer installs the vendor's app.

  • Splashtop SOS: best for affordable attended and unattended support. $259 per concurrent technician per year, with phone support, in-session voice and recording included.
  • Zoho Assist: best for full computer control with monthly billing. $10 per technician per month billed annually or $12 monthly; phone support starts at $15 annually.

TeamViewer, AnyDesk and LogMeIn Rescue also belong here. See the best remote support software for small business.

Co-browsing platforms: UserView by Upscope and Glance

Co-browsing shows the agent the customer's session inside your own website or app, and usually lets the agent act in it. It requires a JavaScript snippet on your pages or an SDK in your apps.

  • UserView by Upscope: best for agents who need to click and type inside your own site or app. The Core plan lets agents see, click, type and scroll, from $36 per agent per month billed monthly or $30 annually.
  • Glance: best for enterprise contact centers. It offers co-browsing, screen sharing and camera sharing inside Salesforce, Genesys and Microsoft Dynamics. Its script must be on every page agents should see. Quote only.

For six platforms side by side, see the best co-browsing software.

Camera-based tools: Viewabo and TechSee

Camera-based tools show what the customer's phone camera sees, such as a router or a damaged part, not the phone's screen. They open from a link in the phone's browser with no app.

  • Viewabo: best for seeing a physical problem before sending a technician. The customer opens a texted or emailed link in Safari or Chrome, with no account. Starter is $79 a month billed annually or $99 monthly, with unlimited seats and 50 sessions a month. Sessions are recorded.
  • TechSee: best for telecom and device support at enterprise scale. Agents send a browser-based camera link and mark parts in the shared view. Pricing is a tailored quote.

Which should your support team choose?

  • Customers call you and you need to see their phone or computer: phone-call screen sharing.
  • Sessions are scheduled and video matters: a meeting app you already pay for.
  • Technicians need to take control of computers: a remote support suite.
  • Problems happen inside your own website or app, and you have developers: co-browsing.
  • The problem is physical equipment: a camera-based tool.

Questions

What is the best free screen sharing app for customer support?

Zoom's free Basic plan (40-minute meetings) and Google Meet with a personal Google account let customers share an iPhone or Android screen at no cost, after installing the app and joining a meeting. Free Microsoft Teams caps meetings at 60 minutes. None is designed around a support call already in progress.

Can a support agent see a customer's screen without an app?

On a computer, yes: GuidedView runs in a desktop browser with no download, and co-browsing runs on your own web pages. On a phone, sharing the whole screen usually means an app, as with GuidedView, the meeting apps and the remote support suites. Camera tools such as Viewabo open in the browser but show the camera, not the screen.

Can screen sharing apps record customer sessions?

Many can. Zoom hosts can record meetings, Splashtop SOS includes session recording, UserView sells recordings as an add-on and Viewabo records sessions for review. Glance says session contents are never recorded or stored on its servers, and GuidedView is live only, with no recording.

Do customers need an account to share their screen?

Usually not. Zoom participants and Microsoft Teams guests can join without an account, Google Meet guests without a Google account must be admitted, and Viewabo needs no account. GuidedView customers need no account either; only the agent signs up.

Is co-browsing more private than screen sharing?

Co-browsing limits the agent's view to your own pages and can mask sensitive fields automatically, which is a real advantage. Screen sharing shows whatever is on the screen, so privacy depends on controls such as GuidedView's pause, which hides the screen until the customer resumes, and on the customer closing other apps first.
