What is Viewabo?
Viewabo is a remote visual support tool from Viewabo, Inc. that lets a business see through a customer's smartphone camera. The business texts or emails a link, and the customer opens it in Safari on iOS 11 or later or in Chrome on Android 5.0 or later, with no app download and no account. The session starts when the customer grants camera and microphone access, and it uses the phone's rear-facing camera. Agents work from a desktop computer running the latest Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, with nothing to install. The customer sees the agent's cursor and any annotations drawn on screen. Sessions are recorded so the team can review them afterward and share them with colleagues, with retention of 90, 180 or 365 days depending on the plan. Viewabo is aimed at hardware and product companies, equipment manufacturers and field trades such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical and solar that want to diagnose a problem before dispatching someone.
Can Viewabo see a customer's phone screen?
Not according to Viewabo's current pages, which describe camera sharing only, using the phone's rear-facing camera. That is the point of the product: the customer points the phone at the equipment, and the agent sees it.
GuidedView covers the screen side. When the customer needs help with a thermostat app, a monitoring app, a booking link or the phone's Wi-Fi settings, the free GuidedView app shares that screen live. GuidedView cannot show the equipment itself. Our guide to visual customer support explains when each kind of view fits.
How do the prices compare?
| GuidedView | Viewabo (Starter) | |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly billing | $29.99 per account | $99 per month |
| Annual billing | No annual plan | $79 per month, billed as $948 a year |
| Seats | Each account is $29.99 a month | Unlimited seats |
| Usage | One plan with every feature | 50 sessions a month included, then $3.00 per session |
The pricing models differ. Viewabo charges per account with unlimited seats and meters sessions, so it can cost less for a larger team with modest volume. Three GuidedView accounts cost $89.97 a month and four cost $119.96, against Viewabo's $99 monthly Starter plan before any session overage. A solo user or a two-person team pays less with GuidedView. Viewabo also offers a 14-day free trial with 10 sessions and no credit card. See GuidedView pricing.
Do you want sessions recorded, and where will agents watch?
Viewabo records sessions so your team can review and share them, which is useful for training technicians or getting a second opinion on a diagnosis. GuidedView sessions are live only, and GuidedView does not record or store screen video. A phone screen can show messages, photos and account details, so live-only is a deliberate privacy choice. If you need a record of what you saw, GuidedView is not the tool for that.
Viewabo agents need a desktop computer with the latest Chrome or Edge. GuidedView agents can watch in any modern browser on a phone or a computer, so a technician in the truck can see a customer's screen from their own phone.
Which should you choose?
Choose Viewabo if
- You diagnose physical problems: equipment, installations, leaks or damage
- You want to see the problem before sending a technician
- You want unlimited seats on one account with usage-based pricing
- You want recordings to review and share with colleagues
- Customers should not need to install anything
Choose GuidedView if
- The problem is in an app, a website or a setting on the customer's phone or computer
- Your agents want to watch from a phone as well as a computer
- You want nothing recorded
- You are a solo user or a small team paying per account
Viewabo answers what the equipment looks like. GuidedView answers what is on the customer's screen. If that second question comes up on your calls, sign up for GuidedView.
Can a field service team use both?
Yes, for different steps. An HVAC company might use a camera link to see the outdoor unit and the thermostat wiring, then a GuidedView invitation to walk the homeowner through a smart thermostat app or an online invoice, with the homeowner pausing before typing card details. The camera shows the equipment; the screen shows the app. The tools are separate, so the agent sends whichever link matches the step.
Questions
Does Viewabo need an app?
No. Viewabo says no app download and no account are required; the customer opens the link in Safari on iOS 11 or later or Chrome on Android 5.0 or later. GuidedView customers need no account either, but they install the free GuidedView app on iPhone, iPad or Android to share the screen.
Can the agent watch Viewabo from a phone?
Viewabo says agents need a desktop computer running the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. GuidedView agents can watch in any modern browser on a phone or a computer, so a technician in the field can view a customer's screen from their own phone.
Can Viewabo control the customer's camera?
No. Viewabo says it does not have direct control over the camera on the end user's phone and cannot control the flashlight. The customer sees the agent's cursor and annotations. GuidedView agents have no control either; they only view the screen the customer shares.
Is Viewabo a screen-sharing app?
Viewabo's current pages describe smartphone camera sharing, not screen sharing. To see a customer's screen, GuidedView shares the iPhone, Android or computer screen live while you talk on the phone, after the customer approves.
How long does Viewabo keep recordings?
Viewabo keeps recordings for a set period based on the plan, 90, 180 or 365 days, counted from when each session was completed. GuidedView keeps nothing, because it records nothing: sessions are live only.
