What is TechSee?
TechSee is a visual support platform for customer service and field service, sold under the Sophie name, with products including Sophie Live, Sophie Self-Service and Connectivity Guru. In Sophie Live, an agent sends a browser-based camera session link, and the customer joins without downloading an app, granting camera permission before sharing. The agent then sees the customer's equipment, room or setup through the phone camera and can mark the part being discussed in the shared view. TechSee's Sophie Knowledge and Intelligence layer connects what the camera shows to approved product instructions, and the same platform covers self-service journeys and field technicians. Deployments are enterprise projects with integrations through an Integration Hub, including Sophie for Salesforce. TechSee's customers are large enterprises in telecom and connectivity, home security, smart home, consumer electronics and appliances, manufacturing and field service, and utilities, where seeing the device first can avoid sending a technician.
Camera or screen: which does the problem need?
| Customer problem | TechSee (camera) | GuidedView (screen) |
|---|---|---|
| Modem lights blinking, cable in the wrong port | Shows the device and cabling | Cannot see physical hardware |
| Error code on an appliance's display panel | Shows the panel | Cannot see it |
| Pairing a smart home device | Shows the device itself | Shows the pairing app on the phone |
| Changing the phone's Wi-Fi settings | Not the phone's own screen | Shows each step on the screen |
| Signing in to an account portal or app | Not the phone's own screen | Shows each step on the screen |
TechSee shows the world through the camera, which is exactly right when the fix involves a cable, a switch or a part. It does not show the phone's own screen, so it cannot follow a customer through an app's menus. GuidedView shares the screen, not the camera, so it cannot see a device on the shelf. Our guide to visual customer support explains the difference in more detail.
What does TechSee add beyond the camera view?
Scale and product knowledge. TechSee's Sophie layer ties what the camera sees to approved product instructions, the platform supports self-service and field technician journeys, and approved notes, screenshots and visual artifacts can return to the customer record. TechSee's FAQ says media handling and retention are deployment decisions, so ask about recording and storage during an evaluation.
GuidedView has no product knowledge layer, automation or records. It is a live view of the customer's screen while you talk, with nothing recorded. That makes it lighter to adopt and narrower in scope. TechSee offers tailored pricing by quote and is deployed as an enterprise project; GuidedView is self-serve at $29.99 a month per account, and an agent can send an invitation as soon as they subscribe.
Which should you choose?
Choose TechSee if
- Your support problems are physical: devices, cabling, appliances or installations
- You want to reduce technician visits by diagnosing through the customer's camera
- You need self-service and field technician journeys on one platform
- You want visual support connected to Salesforce and other enterprise systems
Choose GuidedView if
- The problem is on a phone or computer screen: an app, a setting, an email or a website
- You want to start from a self-serve sign-up rather than an enterprise project
- You want live sessions with nothing recorded
- Your team is small and wants a published monthly price
Pick by where the problem lives. If it is on the counter or behind the TV, a camera tool fits. If it is on the screen in the customer's hand, see how GuidedView works.
Can one team use both?
Internet and telecom support often needs both kinds of view. A camera tool shows the modem, the cable and the lights. A screen view helps when the customer is stuck in the provider's app, the phone's Wi-Fi settings or an account portal. A team can send a camera link for the hardware step and a GuidedView invitation for the screen step. See GuidedView for telecom and internet providers.
Questions
Can TechSee see a customer's phone screen?
TechSee Sophie Live shares the customer's phone camera, not the phone's screen, so the agent sees the equipment the camera points at. To see the phone's own screen, such as a settings page or an app, you need a screen-sharing tool like GuidedView, which shows the iPhone, Android or computer screen live.
Does the customer need an app for TechSee?
No. TechSee says customers follow a session link and join a browser-based camera session without downloading an app, after granting camera permission. GuidedView customers on iPhone, iPad or Android install the free GuidedView app the first time they share; on a computer they share from the browser.
Does TechSee record sessions?
TechSee does not publish an explicit video recording feature. Its FAQ says approved notes, screenshots and visual artifacts can return to the customer record, and that media handling and retention are deployment decisions. GuidedView does not record or store screen video.
Is GuidedView a TechSee alternative?
For screen problems, yes; for hardware problems, no. GuidedView cannot see equipment because it shares the screen, not the camera. Teams comparing camera tools may also look at SightCall and Viewabo, and our TechSee alternatives page covers more options.
How much does TechSee cost?
TechSee does not publish prices as of November 2026. Its pricing page offers tailored pricing and asks buyers to request a tailored quote. GuidedView is $29.99 a month per account, billed monthly, with every feature in one plan.
