What to know before replacing ScreenConnect
GuidedView is our product. We include it where it fits and say plainly where another tool is the better choice. Competitor details were checked against each vendor's own pages in November 2026.
ScreenConnect, formerly ConnectWise Control and sold by ConnectWise, is a remote support and remote access platform built for IT departments and managed service providers. A technician connects to a guest device through a downloaded guest client or mobile app, and always-installed agents provide unattended access. Its strengths are real: full control of Windows, Mac and Linux computers, Backstage, a remote command line, Wake-on-LAN and video auditing on Premium. The reasons to compare alternatives are mostly about plan limits. As of November 2026, the $30 per month One plan is offered annually only, allows one session and 10 unattended agents, and excludes session recording, VoIP audio and iPhone or Android guest support. Phone support means Standard at $47 per month per concurrent technician billed annually, or $62 billed monthly. On computers, the customer goes to your guest page, enters a code and runs the guest client, and iPhones are view-only because of Apple's restrictions.

Splashtop Remote Support: phones and recording from the start
Splashtop Remote Support covers much of the same ground for MSPs. Its SOS plan starts at $22 per month per concurrent technician license, billed annually at $259 (10 managed computers) or $399 (300 managed computers) as of November 2026, and it includes attended iPhone and Android support, chat, in-session voice and session recording, which ScreenConnect reserves for Standard. Admin elevation, reboot and reconnect, background system tools and ITSM and PSA integrations are available.
Best for: MSPs and help desks that want phones and recording without paying for ScreenConnect Standard. Watch-outs: yearly billing only, and unattended Android access is an Enterprise feature. See GuidedView vs Splashtop.
TeamViewer: remote support plus device management
TeamViewer suits teams that want more than remote support from one vendor. Its Business plan, US$50.90 per month billed yearly as of November 2026, covers one licensed user, up to three concurrent sessions in tabs and 200 managed devices, with session recording included. Mobile device support is an add-on that raises Business to US$63.85, and other add-ons cover device monitoring, asset management, endpoint protection and MDM.
Best for: IT teams that want support and device management together. Watch-outs: subscriptions auto-renew yearly unless canceled at least 28 days before the term ends, and customers run QuickSupport on computers and phones. See GuidedView vs TeamViewer.
BeyondTrust Remote Support: built for audits
BeyondTrust Remote Support, formerly Bomgar, is aimed at large and regulated service desks. It offers cloud or self-hosted deployment, Jump Clients for unattended access, automatic recording when a customer shares a screen and integrations with CRM, ITSM, SIEM and password tools, plus an open API.
Best for: enterprises that need audit trails and policy controls across many device types. Watch-outs: pricing is quote-only as of November 2026, Windows customers run an elevated customer client, and Android control is officially supported only on certain phones, tablets and Zebra devices. See GuidedView vs BeyondTrust.
GuidedView: for calls where the customer drives
GuidedView is not an MSP tool. It is view-only and has no unattended agents. It is for support calls where the customer has to do the steps themselves: signing in to an app, finding a setting or filling out a form. You text or email a one-time link while you are on the call, the customer approves, and you watch their screen in a browser. Only the agent who sent the invitation can view that session, and the customer can pause before private steps.
Best for: client-facing teams helping people with their own phones. Price: $29.99 per month, billed monthly. See GuidedView vs ScreenConnect for a direct comparison.
Zoho Assist: the budget alternative
As of November 2026, Zoho Assist Remote Support Standard is US$10 per technician per month billed annually or US$12 monthly, mobile support starts on Professional at US$15, and session recording starts on Enterprise at US$24. Unattended access is sold separately per 25 computers, from US$10 billed annually. Zoho covers Linux, Raspberry Pi and IoT devices, integrates with Zendesk, ServiceNow, Freshservice, Freshdesk and Jira, and has a free plan.
Best for: small teams that want full control and monthly billing. Watch-outs: recording and phones are on higher tiers, and Windows customers run a small download. See GuidedView vs Zoho Assist.
AnyDesk: lightweight for a single technician
AnyDesk's Solo plan, $28.90 per month billed annually as of November 2026, includes unattended access to 100 managed devices, session recording and mobile platforms, and the client can run portably without installation or admin rights. Standard, for teams of up to 20 users, is $49.90 per month billed annually. Ultimate adds an on-premises deployment option and is quote-only.
Best for: solo technicians or very small IT teams. Watch-outs: Solo is single-person use with one connection, all plans are billed yearly, and Android control requires a plugin. See GuidedView vs AnyDesk.
How to choose
- You are on One and need phones: compare Splashtop SOS with ScreenConnect Standard before upgrading.
- You need audit trails and self-hosting: BeyondTrust is built for that.
- You want device management in the same contract: TeamViewer's add-ons cover monitoring, assets, endpoint protection and MDM.
- You are a team of one: AnyDesk Solo or Zoho Assist Standard keeps costs low.
- Your callers need guidance on their own phones: GuidedView needs no guest client and no customer account.
MSPs often need more than one tool. Our page for managed service providers covers where view-only phone help fits next to remote control.
Questions
Is ScreenConnect the same as ConnectWise Control?
Yes. ScreenConnect was formerly sold as ConnectWise Control and is sold by ConnectWise today. Its iPhone app appears as ScreenConnect (ConnectWise Control) in the App Store, so customers may see either name during setup.
Does the ScreenConnect One plan support iPhones?
No. As of November 2026, ScreenConnect's pricing page shows that One does not include iOS or Android mobile guest clients, session recording or VoIP audio. Those start on Standard, at $47 per month per concurrent technician billed annually or $62 billed monthly.
Which ScreenConnect alternative has monthly billing?
Zoho Assist bills monthly from US$12 per technician, and GuidedView is $29.99 per month billed monthly. ScreenConnect Standard itself has a monthly option at $62. Splashtop, AnyDesk and TeamViewer list yearly billing as of November 2026.
Can a customer use ScreenConnect without downloading anything?
Not for screen sharing on a computer. ScreenConnect's guest page asks the customer to enter a code and run the guest client on Windows, macOS 12.7.1 or later, or Linux with Java, and phones use the ScreenConnect app. GuidedView computer users share from a supported desktop browser with no download.
Which alternative is best for unattended access?
Compare ScreenConnect Standard's unlimited unattended agents with Splashtop's 10 or 300 managed computers per license, AnyDesk Solo's 100 managed devices, TeamViewer Business's 200 and BeyondTrust's Jump Clients. GuidedView has no unattended access; every session starts with the customer approving it.
